In June, the company announced their intention to open four new “concept stores” this year, with the first scheduled to open in Eastchester earlier this month. Following a few additional delays, the grand opening re-scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 22.

When Barnes and Noble opens its doors, it will feature the standard assortment of reading materials, expanded seating and spaces for potential in-store events and activities. The new location will include a full-service 2,600-square-foot restaurant that serves local craft beer and wine with an outdoor seating area.

According to Barnes & Noble officials, “the new Eastchester store (in the) Vernon Hills Shopping Center, will serve as a cultural hub to the community.” Other concept stores are scheduled to open in Minnesota, California, Virginia and Texas within the next two years.

“As we look ahead to fiscal 2017 and beyond, we are focusing on executing a number of initiatives to grow bookstore and online sales, reduce retail and NOOK expenses and grow our membership base,” Barnes & Noble CEO Ron Boire stated. “We believe our marketing, merchandising and membership initiatives will lead to increased traffic and conversion in our stores.

“We are also excited about our plans to open four new concept stores opening later this year, beginning with the first store opening in Eastchester. We look forward to discussing these initiatives further at our Investor Day.”
