Warren Tusk will be hosting a theatrical experience game, the Dance and the Dawn on May 2 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at ARC Stages at 175 Tompkins Ave. in Pleasantville.

The Dance and the Dawn is a theater-style live action roleplay game and the first of its kind coming to Westchester. The game is a Gothic fairy tale for 15 players who waltz and duel while searching for true love.

Dance was funded via a Kickstarter campaign and has been performed all over the world. The game features seven female and six male parts.

Dance, which was funded by a Kickstarter campaign, has been played at The Brick Theatre in Williamsburg, and dozens of times around the world.

“I'm excited to help people live out their own theatrical narratives through this fun and social medium,” said Tusk.  “Dance is the kind of game that makes it easy for new players to get swept up in the action; it’s introduced many to the hobby.”

Tusk, who runs his own company, Paracelsus Games, said he is eager to bring it to Westchester.

"The more people see it, the better," Tusk said. "The goal is to get the actor comfortable playing a character and to have fun."

Games like The Dance and the Dawn can be a big help to people who might be self conscious or have stage fright, Tusk said.

"Your job is to fully inhabit a character for an extended period of time," Tusk said. "You don't have a script and you're fully expected to stay in character."

Tusk, who did theater at Briarcliff, said he comes back to visit regularly. He said he really enjoys getting a chance to work with ARC Stages.

"ARC Stages has blossomed into a beautiful theatrical institution," Tusk said. "That's great to see. I'm glad I can be part of the theater presence here."

Tusk said he hopes his actors have an interesting and memorable experience.

"I want this to be accessible to a wide range of people," Tusk said. "I want people to know this is out there and is something they can do."
