Camerata Chamber Group Playing At Westchester CC In February

VALHALLA, N.Y. -- Westchester Community College's Camerata Chamber Group will present a matinee performance on Sunday, Feb. 2, at 3 p.m. in the Classroom Building, Room 200. Romantic Period Favorites will be performed.

Violinist Victor Lionti is the founding creative force behind the Camerata, serving as its music director and conductor since its inception on the Westchester Community College campus in 1986. Lionti is also the conductor of the Westchester Youth Symphony (which has its home on the Westchester Community College main campus in Valhalla).

He was formerly principal violist of the Greenwich Symphony, professor of music at Kent State University, a member of Rochester Philharmonic, the Hartford Symphony and the United States Marine Band, as well as the former music director of the Aaron Copland Music and Arts Program sponsored by Westchester County. Lionti is an adjunct professor at Westchester CC and was formerly the Music Curriculum chairperson.

A featured violinist, Lionti is a member of the Metropolitan Opera and holds Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from the Juilliard School.

The Camerata Chamber Players also feature other notable professional invited guest musicians.

Tickets are $18 (general admission), $16 (seniors), and $12 (students). Tickets can either be purchased in advance by mailing with a check or by cash at the box office, 30 minutes before the scheduled performance time.
