The Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze, run by Historic Hudson Valley started in 2005 with a handful of dates and has grown into a fall spectacle that stretches from late September through the end of November for a total of 38 nights.

With most of its original 32 nights already sold out, the additional dates will give visitors more opportunities to see the magical displays.

The new dates are Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 17-18; Saturday-Sunday, Nov. 19-20, and Friday-Saturday, Nov. 25-26.

As a special treat this year, the event’s creative team will be unveiling a brand-new Thanksgiving-themed pumpkin display, Historic Hudson Valley said.

Last year, more than 130,000 visitors came to the display, held on the grounds of the 18th-century manor house owned by Pierre Van Cortlandt. At one time the historic property had an apple orchard, dairy farm, kiln, tavern and carpenter and blacksmith shops.

Favorite installations, such as the Undersea Aquarium and Jurassic Park, are joined this year by new jack o’lantern creations including an 80-foot-long Pumpkin Zee Bridge, a plus-sized Pumpkin Planetarium, and the “Main Street” scene of the Pumpkin Promenade.

Hudson Valley staff and local artists carved the pumpkins and make the displays while hundreds of volunteers do the icky job of scooping out the big, round squashes.

There is a shop jam-packed with Blaze and Halloween goodies and a café where folks can warm up with soup, veggie chili and hot cider … and dine on pumpkin muffins and cookies.

Van Cortlandt Manor is at 525 South Riverside Ave., off Route 9.
