MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. -- The Westlake Players took Neil Simon's "Fools" to an absurd level as their fall comedy was staged recently.

The comedy, presented on  Friday, Nov. 21 through Sunday, Nov. 23, is about a school teacher sent to a small Ukrainian town where a curse of stupidity has been placed hundreds of years ago. It starred Joe Tagarelli as the schoolmaster and Alexa Pichiarallo as his prime student Sophia. Her parents were portrayed by Andrew Mesquita and Gabrielle Lia.  The merchants off the town are played by Dillon Selvaggi, Xander Warne, Sofia Mastandrea and Aidan Glendon and the town's magistrate is played by Larry Gardner.  Senior citizens enjoyed a complimentary lunch before the Sunday afternoon performance.
