The grant is part of a total $709.2 million that will be distributed through Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Regional Economic Development Council Initiative. ArtsWestchester joins118 other private- and public-sector organizations that will receive about $83 million through the Mid-Hudson Regional Economic Development Council. “We are pleased to join so many other distinguished organizations that are receiving these important resources,” said Janet Langsam, CEO of ArtsWestchester. “A grant like this shows the arts are a vital economic generator in Westchester County and important to both our cultural capital and our economy.” According to ArtsWestchester, a recent study showed the cultural industry in Westchester County contributed more than $156 million to the county’s overall economy. It also indicated that 3,332 arts-related businesses in Westchester County employ more than 13,500 people. The festival starts in March and will continue through June 30. Participating venues include Axial Theatre, Blue Door Gallery, Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts, Castle Gallery, Katonah Museum of Art, Pelham Art Center, Rye Arts Center, Untermyer Performing Arts Council and White Plains Performing Arts Center.
