Bhog Restaurant has been winning rave reviews since it opened at 68 Wheeler Ave. in Pleasantville last year. The restaurant received a very good in the New York Times and Bill and Hillary Clinton have dined there.

The restaurant, owned by Pleasantville resident Nimma Reddy, covers all the regions of India offering up bronizi sea bass, masala roast chicken and goat curry.

Reddy came to Pleasantville by way of Jackson, Miss., where he ran a successful Indian restaurant and catering business for years. Before going into Indian cuisine, Reddy was an IT consultant. Reddy was persuaded to come to Pleasanville by his friends after Bollywood Bistro had closed.

"I wanted to make the restaurant more open," Reddy said. "I've always had a passion for food."

Reddy said he is glad he chose  to make the move  to Westchester.

"We're doing well," Reddy said. "We've gotten good exposure. People in Pleasantville really want to support us."

Indian food is not just about being hot and spicy. Reddy said Indian food is very well balanced and his menu offers a balance between the two.

"Our food is authentic Indian cuisine," Reddy said. "A lot of the food has not been exposed out of India."

Other standout items on Bhog's menu include Tandoori Chicken, Seekh Kabab, Panner Tikka.

Having the Clintons dine at his restaurant on July 11, 2013, was the epitome of the American dream for Reddy. The Clintons showed up the day Bhog received its positive review in the New York Times.

"Hillary really liked the spicy dishes," Reddy said. "She said they have been to a lot of Indian restaurants."

The former president had spinach and sprouted moong while Hillary enjoyed shrimp. The Clintons also enjoyed the unique desserts that Bhog offers including nizami-ala kulifi and gajar halva cake with rabdi.

"Hillary really enjoyed the gajar halva cake," Reddy said. "Being reviewed in the Times and having the Clintons dine here was a major boost for us."

The restaurant has also been supported by Westchester's Indian community who often book Reddy for catering gigs.
