Fortunate, along with partner and chef Eddie Martinez, are launching 105-Ten, an upscale American eatery at 127 Woodside Avenue. 10510 is Briarcliff's zip code.

The restaurant is set to open in about a month, and is hoping the name will attract people throughout Northern and Central Westchester. Reaction from the Briarcliff community has been positive.

"There's this really nice buzz in the community," Fortunate, a Briarcliff resident, said. "People I barely know are stopping me on the street and telling me how excited they are."

Fortunate previously ran the Rainwater Grill in Hastings, which he recently sold. He has been working with Martinez for 10 years and said the secret to a successful restaurant is top-notch service and good food.

"We have a great space and a comfortable environment," Fortunate said. "It's aesthetically pleasing."

105-Ten is aiming for that modern urban industrial feel with high brick walls, a 25-foot long bar and three large television screens.

"This place was never built out," Fortunate said. "We wanted to give it this sleek look."

The restaurant also plans to offer monthly music and will have 12 beers on tap, including craft beer and 10 wines by the glass, with an extensive wine list for the bottle.

"Everything at 105-Ten will be made to order," Fortunate said. "I only have a small freezer for ice cream. We will get deliveries throughout the week."

Fortunate and Martinez said they take pride in staying with in a 400 mile radius of 10510 to obtain chicken, steaks and vegetables.

The menu will feature items like fried avocado, Ahi tuna, chopped cobb salads and lobster mac and cheese, South American Sea Bass, steak frites, along with burgers, sandwiches and daily blackboard specials.

Looking to be family friendly, 105-Ten will offer a kids menu, with a $1 from every kids menu going to a local pediatric cancer charity, and Fortunate plans to offer discounts to Briarcliff's volunteer firefighters. The kitchen will be open, allowing patrons to see their food get prepared.

"We have nothing to hide," Fortunate said.
