PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – After being arrested and charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon, Briarcliff Manor resident Reza Daneshvar’s court date was adjourned Tuesday evening at Pleasantville Justice Court until December 13.
Village Prosecutor David Whalen requested to Village Justice John Curley that the case be adjourned until December 13 where he will present a plea offer. Justice Curley granted the request.
Daneshvar, 21, allegedly stabbed his victim in the early hours of November 23 in the vicinity of Pine Street in Pleasantville. In a press release statement, Pleasantville Police said they believe that the incident occurred as a result of a dispute among acquaintances. The victim remains hospitalized at Phelps Memorial Hospital in serious condition. The victim is a 20-year-old male, also of Briarcliff Manor. The department would not comment further on specifics of the incident as the investigation continues.
Edward Rinaldi, representative for Daneshvar, declined to comment on the charges against his client Tuesday evening.
Pleasantville police officers received a call shortly after 2 a.m. on the morning of November 23 from the Briarcliff Manor Police Department about a stabbing victim recently checked in at Phelps. Through an investigation, Pleasantville detectives determined Daneshvar as a suspect in the crime and he turned himself in to authorities around 6 p.m. the same day.
Daneshvar was arraigned and sent to Westchester County Jail, where he was held on $50,000 bail. He is scheduled to return to Village Court on November 29.
