VALHALLA, N.Y. – Anthony “Tony” Lallo, formerly of Valhalla died at his residence in Kansas with family at his side on March 25. He was 88.
A lifetime member of the Mount Pleasant Sportsman's Club and the NRA, he enjoyed trap shooting and hunting with his brother.
Lallo was born in Casacalenda, Italy to Angelo and Giustina Lallo in 1924. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force and served five years as a staff sergeant during World War II. Lallo was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War and American Legion Post.
He was retired as a foreman for the New York City Department of Sanitation following 35 years of exemplary service. Lallo married his sweetheart “Dot” in 1952 and they had a home in Bronx, N.Y. before living on Lisa Lane in Valhalla for 48 years.
Lallo was an avid gardener and an excellent mechanic. Following the death of his wife, Lallo relocated to Kansas near his daughter Susan and her husband Warren, who oversaw his care and enriched his last years immensely.
He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, the former Dorothy Docherty in 2006. Lallo is survived by his daughters Susan (Warren) Russo, Diane Lallo and Kristine Dugan, his brother Joseph (Alexandra) Lallo and six grandchildren. He was also predeceased by his sister Josephine (Tom) Cascio.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday at Hawthorne Funeral Home. A celebration of his life and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Name of Jesus Church in Valhalla on Tuesday at 10 a.m., with Father Joseph Farrone officiating. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
