Healy, Retired Westchester Med Center Nurse, Dies

VALHALLA, N.Y. – Carol Healy, a retired registered nurse in Valhalla, died Sunday, April 1. She was 72. 

She was born in Queens, N.Y., on Aug. 10, 1939, to Hugh and Josephine Markey. A resident of Mahopac, N.Y., Healy worked as a registered nurse, retiring from Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. 

Healy was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Church in Mahopac and a member of the Catholic Daughters. She also volunteered her time at St. John's Food Pantry. 

She is survived by her daughters, Janet (Al) Celini, Jeanne (Vincent) Yannacci, Jacqueline (Paul) Mastropietro and Jennifer (Bob) Zmarzlak; her sister, Janet Markey; and nine grandchildren. 

Visiting is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, at Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home in Mahopac. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, with interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to St. John's Food Pantry, 225 E. Lake Blvd., Mahopac, NY 10541, or to a local food pantry.
