Machin, Former Thornwood Secretary, Dies at 81

THORNWOOD, N.Y. - Vilma M. Machin of Thornwood died Nov. 17. She was 81.

Machin was born on Jan. 28, 1930 to the late John and Stella Torelli in Roccasalle, Italy. She worked as an executive secretary with Reader's Digest in Chappaqua before retiring.

Machin is survived by her husband Wilfred D. Machin of Thornwood, her son Douglas (Suzanna) Machin of Danbury, Conn., her daughter Lesley Purdy of Danbury, her sister Marie Antoinette (Raymond) Logue of Las Vegas, Nev. and five grandchildren.

Visiting was on Sunday at Hawthorne Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held on Monday at 10 a.m., at Holy Innocents Church in Pleasantville, followed by interment at All Souls Cemetery in Pleasantville.
