Pleasantville Lawyer Honored By State Bar Association

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – A Pleasantville attorney is among 20 winners of the New York State Bar Association's 2013 President's Pro Bono Service Award.

Daniel Schlanger was honored for his efforts to open a Civil Legal Advice and Resource Office in Westchester County, providing free legal advice to those in debt. Schlanger was given the award at a Law Day luncheon at the State Bar Center in Albany.

"Every year, millions of New Yorkers are forced to navigate the civil justice system without legal representation,” State Bar President Seymour W. James Jr. said. “We are so pleased to recognize the attorneys whose pro bono efforts assisted low-income individuals with consumer debt, foreclosure, divorce, end-of-life decisions, government benefits, storm-related issues and other legal matters. It is our privilege to honor those who make access to justice a reality."
