"It's really just a great thing this time of year, and it benefits children just down the street from us," said Pleasantville Mayor Peter Scherer.

The Pleasantville Police Benevolent Association is teaming up with the Briarcliff Manor PBA and hosting a toy drive which will benefit children who are patients at the Maria Fareri Children's Hospital in Valhalla.

The groups are looking for new, unwrapped, toys to be donated. A collection box is in the Pleasantville Village Hall at 80 Wheeler Ave. in Pleasantville. Donations will be accepted through Dec. 14 and a full list of suggested toys can be found on Pleasantville's website.

Members of the Westlake High School National Honor Society are holding their annual toy drive as well. All collected toys will be donated to children who are patients at the Blythedale Children's Hospital in Valhalla.

The group requests that all toy donations be unwrapped with no latex toys or stuffed animals. New children's clothing for all ages is also accepted. Donations will be accepted at the Westlake High School main office in Thornwood through Dec. 19.
