Raymond Hart, 84, Retired Hawthorne Pilot

HAWTHORNE, N.Y. – Raymond Glenn Hart of Hawthorne died April 5 after a short illness. He was 84.

He was born Dec. 4, 1927 to the late Raymond and Virginia Hart in New York. Hart served in the US Navy and then in the Army as a first lieutenant during the Korean Conflict. 

He was a retired corporate pilot of 35 years with Savin Business Machines and later with the Loews Corporation, until retiring in 1990. After retirement, Hart worked for the Apple Bank in Thornwood as a vault attendant. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus St. Dominic Council in Thornwood and a devout parishioner of Holy Rosary Church in Hawthorne. 

Hart is survived by his wife of 56 years, Betty Hart, of Hawthorne, three daughters, Jackie (Eric) Kothe of Mahopac, N.Y., Patti (Steve) Diaz, of Monroe, Conn. and Jeanne (Jim) Manecky, of Patterson, N.Y.; a son, Raymond (Julie) Hart Jr., of Westwood, Mass. and seven grandchildren. 

The family will receive fiends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday at Hawthorne Funeral Home. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday Holy Rosary Church, followed by burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Blythedale Children's Hospital in Valhalla.
