CORTLANDT MANOR, N.Y. – Richard G. Belliveau, a longtime Cortlandt Manor resident, died May 5. He was 83.
Belliveau was a retired teacher with the Mount Pleasant Central School District.
Born June 7, 1928 in Melrose, Mass., he was the son of Madison J. and Alice E. Bowen Belliveau. From 1946 to 1949, Belliveau served with the US Army Air Corps following World War II and then from 1951 to 1952 with the Air Force during the Korean War.
He was a member of the National Maritime Society and the Westchester Civil War Roundtable. Belliveau was also an active member and supporter of the Boys Scouts. He was a parishioner of Peekskill Presbyterian Church and volunteered as chaplain at Hudson Valley Hospital.
Belliveau is survived by four sons, Scott (Sandy) Belliveau, Stephen (Cindy) Belliveau, Douglas (Lori) Belliveau and Dwight (Blaire) Belliveau; a brother, Robert Belliveau; two sisters Betty Pendergast and Marjorie Donahue; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandsons. He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara Watson Belliveau, in September of 2005.
The family will receive friends on from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at E.O. Curry Funeral Home in Peekskill. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Peekskill Presbyterian Church, followed by burial at Hillside Cemetery in Cortlandt Manor.
