THORNWOOD, N.Y. Cy Leighton (Samuel C. Levine), of White Plains died March 31. He was 91.
Leighton was born in Bronx, N.Y. on Nov. 14, 1920. He graduated from New York University and served in the U.S. Army as a staff sergeant. He was a member of the Greatest Generation and the Band of Brothers, from Normandy through to the Battle of the Bulge where he received a Purple Heart.
For 40 years, Leighton owned Danleigh Insulation and Supply Corporation in Thornwood. He was also a past president of The Builders Institute of Westchester County. Leighton was married more than 65 years to Bernice Levine.
He is survived by his daughters Linda Greenfield, Barbara Levine and Sandra Levine, his sons-in-law Dr. Andrew Greenfield, Frederick S. Gold and Henry Nelson and three granddaughters.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Congregation Kol Ami in White Plains. Interment will follow at Sharon Gardens Cemetery in Valhalla. Arrangements are under Ballard-Durand Funeral Home .
