The event kicked off the Hudson Valley Thank a Veteran Tour to honor local veterans and thank them for their service.

Westlake's Service Club helped set up and seat and serve the veterans and talk with them throughout the morning. They were also a big help cleaning up after the event. Service Club adviser Nick DiPaolo said the students were "very honored to be there," as they served and said thank you to the veterans. "The veterans were very impressed with our kids, how kind and personable they were," he said.

The Westlake choral group Blendors sang some patriotic tunes to open the event, and band members were on hand to play patriotic background music.
