Con Edison Road Work Tops Briarcliff Village Manager's Report

BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. -- Con Ed's work on installing the new gas main is near completion, according to Village Manager Philip Zegarelli’s latest report.

Pressure testing is currently in process as Con Ed energizes the new mains, and then the utility will work on individual service connections and removing plates that are currently placed opposite residential connections. 

Hydrant flushing will take place in the Hardscrabble Lake neighborhood from Tuesday through Friday. Affected streets include Pebblebrook Way, Boulder Trail, Brittany Court, Turtleback Way, Woodbridge Court, Lily Pond Place and Hardscrabble Lake Drive. Residents can expect discolored water during the day from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Metro North/Hudson Line service changes 

A service notice has been issued regarding "reverse peak" availability at the Scarborough and Philipse Manor stations. Changes will begin Monday, Aug. 1. 

Library and community center

The Summer Reading Incentive Program is underway for kids from age 3 to sixth grade. For more information, visit www.briarcliffmanorlibrary.org/summer/readinglog.html.

Stories and a Craft for kids ages 2 1/2 to 6 will take place Wednesdays through Aug. 17 at 3:30 p.m. Registration is not required. 

Participants in the first through third grades can enjoy a variety of relays and other races at the library on Thursday from 4-4:45 p.m. Registration is required by contacting Amy Kaplan at 914-941-7072 or abgkaplan@gmail.com.

The library will exhibit photographs and drawings by Allison H. Midgley on the second floor until Friday. An artist reception will take place Sunday from 2-4 p.m.

Recreation and parks

One-week camp offerings that are still available include PlayWell Teknologies LEGO Camps, IncrediFlix Movie Making Camps, Engineering for Kids camps and soccer camps offered in conjunction with Briarcliff Youth Soccer Club. For more information, visit www.briarcliffmanor.org.

All village tennis courts are open. Permits are required.

Mayor and Board of Trustees

There will be no work session Wednesday. The next Board of Trustees work session and meeting will be held Wednesday, Aug. 3. The work session begins at 7 p.m., and the meeting is at 8 p.m. at Village Hall.
