  • Many people have been visited by Con Edison’s contractor about its plan to take down hundreds of trees where power lines are potentially at jeopardy due to future storms. This is different from the village’s own tree-trimming program. This program also includes additional installations of “wheeling sites” on various poles where power outages can be isolated.
  • The much-used Westchester County Mobile Shredder comes to Briarcliff Manor from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at the Youth Center, 5 Van Lu Van Road. Residents can bring up to four file-size (10-inch by 12-inch by 15-inch) boxes per household. Remove all large binder clips and covers. This is for the disposal of personal household papers. All business, institutional or commercial papers are not acceptable and will be rejected, as will any junk mail, magazines or newspapers.
  • The Halloween Ragamuffin Parade will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31. Parents and children should report in costume to the parking lot of the International Union of Operating Engineers at 1360 Pleasantville Road.
