The gift was part of the Elks Care/Elks Share program. The goal of the program is “to assist all students in becoming good writers, active readers, creative thinkers and resourceful learners, the organization said.
Since educators consider third grade the dividing line between learning to read and reading to learn, the Elks annually give out personal dictionaries to all BRS third graders.
At an assembly prior to the distribution of dictionaries, BRS Student Council members welcomed the Elks and screened a video they made that described a dictionary’s many uses.
