PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. Musicians are not the only local features that will be at the Pleasantville Music Festival this Saturday.
On top of the many local bands and musicians, over 50 business vendors and more than 20 sponsors with local ties will be a part of the music-filled day at Parkway Field on Marble Lane. Co-executive director of the festival, Rich Sarfaty, said it's very important to stay local with their event.
"Part of our concept here is to support local musicians and local businesses so it's an integral part of the festival," Sarfaty said.
Performers, such as Chris Fox of Chappaqua and Geoff Hartwell of Pleasantville, are natives of Westchester County.
The local businesses will have a chance to shine in the 'Vendor Village' section of the festival. Each vendor will be given a 15 by 15 feet area where they can set up a tent, tables or decorate. Vendors will sell goods, offer services or promote charitable opportunities. Almost all of the vendors are local businesses in the Pleasantville, Briarcliff, Mount Pleasant and Westchester County area.
"I think people are going to be proud to see their local businesses from the area participating," Sarfaty said.
Each business that wished to participate as a vendor in the event went through an application process. Sarfaty said the selection process was very easy in order to create as diverse a business presence as possible. More than 50 vendors will be there.
"They're all excellent, I'm very happy to have them all," he said.
The corporate sponsors, such as McDonald's, Shop Rite and Captain Lawrence Brewery, among others, help in allowing people to attend the festival at a reasonable price. The price for an adult ticket is $40.
