WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- The tragic death this week of a 20-year-old graduate of Ossining High School prompted about 250 friends and classmates to gather at Arcadian Shopping Center off Route 9 on Wednesday night.
Bastian Pasten died of injuries from an 11 a.m. crash on Route 117 in Mount Pleasant on Tuesday. The collision involving a Jeep and a motorcycle operated by Pasten remains under investigation by Mount Pleasant police and the Westchester Conty Police Accident Investigation Unit, authorities said.
Pasten, a popular wrestler at Ossining High School, was described as charming and well-liked by friends. A YouTube video of one of his wrestling matches can be found here.
A GoFundMe account on which dozens of people who knew Pasten and his family are sharing their thoughts about the young man can be accessed by clicking here.
Pasten was reportedly driving east when his motorcycle collided with a westbound Jeep that was turning left into Rockefeller State Park.
No tickets have been issued, police said, and the name of the Jeep's driver has not been released.
Lt. Robert Miliambro, a spokesman for the Mount Pleasant Police Department, said the cause of the crash -- which closed down Route 117 in both directions between Route 9 and Route 448 -- is being investigated.
Route 117 was reopened about five hours after the accident, police said.
Memorial arrangements have not yet been announced.
