Hawthorne Cedar Knolls Employees Blame Troubles On Cuts

HAWTHORNE, N.Y. -- A staff member at Hawthorne Cedar Knolls in Westchester said two fights last week are the results of administrative cuts leading to frustrated students and overwhelmed employees, according to News 12.

Six teenagers at the school for troubled teens, face charges after two separate incidents merely 12 hours apart. A worker said that faculty are afraid to go to work each day with the real issue being job cuts and lack of administration with a reported 9-to-1 ratio of kids to counselors. according to News 12.

Three boys were arrested on rioting charges Friday after fighting at the school. Early Saturday morning police returned to arrested three girls when a 13-year-old was accused of an attempt to set a staff member on fire using an aerosol can and lighter, according to News 12.
