Cub Master Laura Olszewski, along with fellow den leaders, planned out how the scouts could make a difference in people's lives this holiday season.
“It should be a wonderful event that will teach the boys the value of remembering those who are less fortunate during this season of giving,” Laura Olszewski said in a statement.
First, each scout will make place mats for seniors of the Meals on Wheels Program of Mount Pleasant, which will be given out at a special holiday feast.
The boys are also making sandwiches to help feed many hungry people who are part of the Midnight Run program, coordinated through the Holy Rosary Parish.
Goody bags will be assembled for local servicemen who have connections to the town. The boys will decorate the bags and fill them with candy.
The scouts are making wreaths and ornaments to be donated to Maria Ferrari Children’s Hospital, which lost all of their holiday decorations to a flood.
Finally, the residents of Rosary Hill Home in Hawthorne will receive care packages from the scouts this holiday season, also assembled Friday night.
