Just Around the Corner: Mt. Pleasant Elections

MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. – There are multiple elections going on this year in the Town of Mount Pleasant. With election day right around the corner, it's important for residents to be informed about each election race.

Here is some information about what elections are occurring and who the candidates are:

In District 3 County Legislator, Republican Michael Smith is running against Democrat incumbent John Nonna. Smith is the CFO of Berkeley Educational Services and is the former president of the Valhalla School Board. Democratic Legislator John Nonna is currently in his second term as county legislator and is the former mayor of Pleasantville.

Mount Pleasant Town Supervisor Joan Maybury is being challenged by Independent candidate Richard Gagliardi. Gagliardi has been a resident of Hawthorne for over 40 years and is an honorary police commissioner in Mt. Vernon. Maybury has been town supervisor of Mount Pleasant since January 2010.

In the Mount Pleasant Town Council election, voters will have the chance to choose two out of three candidates for the open seat. The candidates running are Jane Abbate of the Independence Party, Carl Fulgenzi of the Republican and Conservative Parties, and Mark Rubeo of the Republican Party.
