Know Your Town: Mount Pleasant Meetings

MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. – They say you can't fight city hall, but in Mount Pleasant Town Hall, you have the right to be heard. Today The Daily Mount Pleasant presents the first in an occasional series, called "How Your Town Works."

To make sure that everyone can view the most important meetings in Mount Pleasant, they are aired on the Mount Pleasant, Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow Government Channel (Cablevision channel 78, Verizion channel 43).

"I believe they are aired about four times a day throughout the week, so if you miss it you can watch it at another time," said Mount Pleasant Town Supervisor Joan Maybury.

Maybury said the three most important meetings to Mount Pleasant residents are the Town Board, Zoning Board, and Planning Board. The Town Board meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month, Zoning Board meets on the second Thursday of the month and Planning Board meets on the first Thursday and the third Monday of every month. Each meeting is held at Town Hall and begins at 8 p.m.

In order to view the agendas for those meetings, residents can visit the Mount Pleasant Website at where they are posted for public viewing. Town Board agendas are usually posted a few hours before the meeting on the day of, and Zoning and Planning Board agendas are usually posted a few days prior.

For the most part, Maybury believes the agendas are clear to the public.

"I think that most of the time the subject matter is explained in clear detail enough that the public can be aware about those meetings that they wish to attend," she said.

For any questions or more information about any of the meetings, residents can call Town Hall at (914) 742-2300 or visit the Mount Pleasant website.
