“It just kept circling around and around and around,” said Neal Schwartz, who is president of the Armonk Chamber of Commerce and among those who saw it.
A person who was flying the helicopter also appeared to be pointing an unknown device from it.
North Castle police reported that several people asked about the helicopter, although police did not have specific information about it.
The helicopter's tail number is N74685. Information from the Federal Aviation Administration confirms, based on the number, that the helicopter is owned by Independent Helicopters LLC, which is located in the Orange County community of New Windsor. A representative from Westchester County Airport also confirmed the link but could not say whether the helicopter took off from there. A person at Stewart International Airport, which is closer to where the company is located, disclosed that Independent Helicopters is a tenant but could not confirm whether there was a trip involving the airport and Armonk.
According to its website, Independent Helicopters offers services that include aerial photography and flight training. A photo of what looks like the same helicopter that was spotted in Armonk is posted on the website.
Messages left for Independent Helicopters were not returned.
