Renzo Yance, 21, appeared at the Westchester County Courthouse in White Plains on Tuesday after recently being indicted on charges that include felony counts of second-degree manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Yance is also charged with DWAI, reckless driving, unlicensed operation, reckless endangerment and third-degree assault, all misdemeanors.

Yance was also arraigned on felony charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in Dobbs Ferry for allegedly driving under the influence in the village without a license on Aug. 6.

Yance pleaded not guilty to the charges on Tuesday.

Members of the Yonkers Police Department were dispatched to the northbound lanes of Central Park Avenue, near Sadore Lane at approximately 7:15 p.m. on Aug. 26 last year, where there were reports of an accident involving an overturned vehicle.

Upon arrival, Yonkers Police Sgt. Dean Politopoulos said that officers spotted the BMW M5 in the roadway, with a passenger having been ejected from the vehicle further down the road, unconscious and unresponsive. First responders administered medical aid, including CPR and transported 19-year-old Yonkers resident Nina Cordero to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Yance and a second passenger were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after the crash. Speed is believed to have played a factor in the fatal crash.

Yance faces a maximum sentence of 15 years in state prison if convicted of the assault charge. Yance remains remanded to the Westchester County Jail pending his court appearance on Tuesday.
