MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. – In the wake of the death of a Yorktown woman killed while crossing Columbus Avenue in Valhalla, the importance of trying to slow down on that stretch of road was the main topic of the latest Mount Pleasant town board meeting, according to the Examiner News.
The Sept. 15 meeting dealt with the aftermath of the death of Brittany Mastropolo on Sept. 11 as both residents and Mount Pleasant town officials attempted to figure out the next steps to take.
Three residents over the course of the meeting demanded that changes be made, reported the Examiner News.
Other residents offered anecdotal evidence of previous accidents or near-misses on that stretch of road.
