On Friday and Saturday, the library will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Internet to the library's computers is currently down so residents are encouraged to bring their own laptops or tablets to access the library's Wi-Fi.

Mayor Peter Scherer said Friday that Pleasantville Middle School has offered its parking lot to library guests over the weekend and during evening hours during the week.

Sherer added that as of Friday, 25 percent of Pleasantville homes were without electricity and that it could be until Nov. 10 until the power is restored.

"This is obviously unhappy news for those of us who are affected," Scherer said in a statement. "We are pushing daily to keep Pleasantville's needs high on Con Edison's radar screen."

Scherer advised residents to still stay clear of any downed wires and to treat them as if they are live.
