"We're already out pre-treating the roads to make sure they don't freeze over when it starts," Sciliano said Thursday. "And we'll be out again early tomorrow morning before rush hour."

The snow is set to begin Friday morning shortly after 3 a.m., with accumulations expected to be around one to two inches by Friday afternoon, The National Weather Service said. Accumulations are expected to pick up Friday night after 9 p.m. and into Saturday morning, with totals reaching around 6 to 10 inches. Throughout the storm, wind gusts can reach up to 50 mph.

Over the past few years, Sciliano said, the department has lost a handful of workers, which means handling a storm such as this one slated means longer hours out on the road. However, not much has changed in the way roads are cleared.

"The plow routes have been the same for years, so we really haven't had to alter anything," Sciliano said.

Sciliano said that as is usually the case, the forecast could change between now and when the storm is scheduled to hit. He's keeping his fingers crossed that it stays reasonable.

"We're hearing somewhere around four to eight inches most likely," Sciliano said. "Thats fine. I don't want to see something like two feet of snow."
