Mount Pleasant Residents Without Water After Main Break

MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. - Many homes in Mount Pleasant were without water Friday night after a large water main break.

The water main break occurred in the area of Marietta Avenue and Worth Place in Hawthorne. Thie break caused a water shut down in a large portion of Mt Pleasant, including but not limited to Hawthorne, Valhalla, and Thornwood, officials said. 

Due to an icing condition, Commerce Street was also closed between Fort Washington Avenue and Liberty Street. Mount Pleasant Water Department, Mount Pleasant Highway, Hawthorne Fire Department, and Mount Pleasant Police were on the scene Friday night.

Officials asked that residents not call the police desk for updates. Crews are working on the emergency.
