VALHALLA, N.Y. - As thousands of Mount Pleasant residents are still without power Thursday, Town Supervisor Joan Maybury said that getting information from Con Edison on when power could be restored has been difficult.
"Quite honestly, the response from Con Ed has been extremely frustrating to track and they are incapable of letting us know clearly what their daily work orders will involve," Maybury said in a statement Thursday.
As of Thursday, 1,039 customers throughout areas of Mount Pleasant were still without power, ten days after Hurricane Sandy hit the area. Maybury said that Con Ed workers were in town Thursday and that an area of priority was the Woodland Drive and Foshay Ave. area in Pleasantville. Maybury also said that Palmer Lane and Eton Road in Thornwood are also areas of priority.
Mount Pleasant residents without power are still advised to call Con Edison on a daily basis at 1-800-752-6633.
Town Hall in Valhalla remains open 24 hours a day as a shelter for residents to stay warm. The shelter offers heat, electricity, water and food. Pets are welcome.
