MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. – This Monday will be a traditional day for both our nation and Mount Pleasant. On July 4, Mount Pleasant will hold its annual 4th of July Extravaganza and Bell Ringing Ceremony sponsored by the town Parks and Recreation Department at the town pool.

Residents of Mount Pleasant are encouraged to come out to the town pool to celebrate our country's independence while enjoying time in the sun.

Tom Vernile, town recreation supervisor, says this is the 21st year that the town has held this event and every year they expect a great time.

"We just want everyone to come down and have fun and enjoy the day," Vernile said.

Vernile said they usually average about 1,500 people at the Extravaganza and that there is plenty of parking to accommodate all.
