Multiple Road Closures Reported in Mount Pleasant

MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. -- Mount Pleasant Police Chief Louis Alagno says there are multiple road closures in the Mount Pleasant area due to fallen trees and wires, in addition to flooding.

"My suggestion for the remainer of Sunday is to stay off the road, and hopefully on Monday we can see these roads cleared," Alagno said.

Roads closed in the Mount Pleasant area include Marble Avenue and Nannyhagen Road in Thornwood, Bear Ridge Road in Pleasantville, and Brady Avenue in Hawthorne. Alagno said he is sure there are many other roads in Mount Pleasant that are unsafe to drive but were not yet reported.

Alagno said the town's highway department is currently waiting on Con Edison to remove live electrical wires that have fallen on roads before they will be able to clear fallen trees and branches.

In addition to local roads in Mount Pleasant being closed, the Westchester County Police have announced that the Bronx River and Hutchinson River Parkways are closed, in addition to partial closings on the Saw Mill River Parkway and the Taconic State Parkway.
