MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. The Westchester County Parks Department plans on kicking off the Fourth of July weekend with their annual Kensico Dam Music Fest and Fireworks on July 3 at the Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla.
The Kensico Dam fest is considered one of the biggest fireworks events of the Fourth of July weekend in the county. Mary Kaye Koch, spokesperson for the county Parks Department, said the event is a huge hit every summer.
"We usually get around 15,000 people there. It's a nice crowd," Koch said.
With the large crowd expected, Koch and the Parks Department advise carpooling to the event and leaving early to ensure parking. Parking and admission to the event is free and those attending should bring chairs or blankets for seating.
The event is set to begin at 6 p.m. with music from The Wanderers, followed by The Gerard Carelli Orchestra taking the stage at 8 p.m. The firework show will approximately begin at around 9:15 p.m.
"Everybody has a great time, and that's what we look forward to this year," Koch said.
