The winners, which also include the Jewish Board for Family and Children's Services in Manhattan and Per Scholas in Brooklyn, were announced by the Nonprofit Coordinating Committee of New York on Dec. 2 at the New York Academy of Medicine.

The recognition looks at eight key areas, and winners are typically organizations with management practices in a majority of these areas, according to the announcement.

The awards are designed to identify and promote excellent management practices that will provide useful examples of best practices in the different areas for other nonprofits.

Neighbors Link was awarded $20,000 for general operating support and a scholarship for Columbia Business School Executive Education Programs in Social Enterprise.

Since 2001, Neighbors Link has had as its mission to strengthen whole communities through healthy integration of immigrants. This is achieved by filling a service gap for new immigrant families, offering education and empowerment programs, involving longer-term residents in volunteer opportunities and creating substantive partnerships with other local organizations.

Among programs are a Worker Center, English as a Second Language education, employment training, health and legal referrals, parent education, early childhood programs and academic support for school-age children.

“We are so grateful to be recognized for our management practices that support the mission of Neighbors Link,” said Carola Bracco, Executive Director of Neighbors Link.
