RYE, N.Y. – Playland Amusement Park held its 84th annual opening day Saturday as children, parents, couples and families descended on the park adjacent to the Long Island Sound.
The day began with a parade led by the Port Chester High School Marching Band accompanied by local dignitaries. With cheaper admission than the other days of the year, the parking lot was filled with cars as people gathered to share the sunny day with friends and family.
Playland charges $30 for unlimited rides daily, with juniors (under 48 inches) paying $20. Westchester residents are eligible for a $5 discount for rides, while admission with no rides is free for residents. Westchester County offers a season pass for $95 and a spectator pass for $35.

Do you know where to avail discount disneyland hopper tickets and passes? Can you please let me know here, thank you!
why are hard pressed overtaxed westchester taxypayers subsidzing the 70 % of visitors to playland from new york city, ct etc?
our road and bridges are in a shambles. this is a luxury we can no longer afford.
please stop with the misty eyed adoration of the past. we are broke!
ALL parks lose money. That's a given with government-owned parks. The community loses tax revenue, workers must maintain them, concession stands hope to be profitable and many people simply enjoy them. It's a park, not a business. Playland is a park and a business. Astorino is on to something with not being in the amusement park business but needs to lighten up a bit. The park "only lost" $3 million last year, down from $5 million. Maybe that's as good as it gets. Bring in some amusement park people for help, not volunteers with convoluted ideas for creating different things for each special interest group. Playland is a gem of a treasure in Westchester and needs to remain free to enter and just absorb as beautiful. Pay a reasonable amount, say $3 for parking, and free entry. If we get the costs down that would be great. What would also be great would be getting the legislature to deal with our bigger issues and let Playland be the beautiful park it is for everyone to enjoy.
