Pleasantville Resident Killed in NJ Turnpike Crash

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Two Westchester residents, including one from Pleasantville, were killed in a fatal car accident Saturday afternoon on the New Jersey Turnpike near Exit 12 in Carteret, according to New Jersey State Police Capt. Frank Davis.

Davis said the driver, Marvin Deleon, 31, of Pleasantville, and passenger Tono Alarcon, age unknown and of Westchester, were both killed in the crash. Deleon’s grey Nissan Altima veered out of its lane and crashed into a parked Ford F-750 construction vehicle that was guarding workers at a nearby construction zone on the turnpike, police said.  Davis said two other passengers in Deleon’s vehicle, Byron Cardona-Aguirre, 25 of Pleasantville, and Freddy Morena, age unknown and of Westchester, were hospitalized with serious injuries.

Davis said two construction workers at the scene suffered minor injuries from the crash.

According to Davis, the accident is still under investigation and it is unknown whether the individuals were wearing seatbelts.

Pleasantville Police Chief Richard Love said Monday afternoon in a phone interview that he was not made aware of the fatal accident and was unfamiliar with the residents involved.
