Police Report Sexual Assault at Thornwood KFC

VALHALLA, N.Y. – Mount Pleasant police arrested an employee of the KFC in the Rosehill Shopping Center in Thornwood late last week in connection with a sexual assault that police say took place inside the fast-food restaurant’s bathroom. Police arrested Ather Qazi, 27, of Ossining, and charged him with forcible touching and unlawful imprisonment, both misdemeanors. Police say that at about 9:30 p.m. on Friday, May 11, Qazi held a 22-year-old female in the store’s bathroom, where he then groped her. Qazi is being held at the Westchester County Jail on $10,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in Mount Pleasant court on Thursday. 

In other blotter news…

Driving While Intoxicated: Mount Pleasant police responded to a one-car accident on Franklin Avenue in Thornwood during the early morning hours of May 16. After arriving on the scene at about 1 a.m., police say they arrested Jennifer Boyer, 31, of Cortlandt Manor, on charges of driving while intoxicated. Police say Boyer struck a parked car while driving along Franklin Avenue. 

Gas and Pass:  Mount Pleasant police say an individual pumped $44 worth of gas into a gray Toyota Yaris at about 2:15 p.m. on May 11 at the Shell gas station on Columbus Avenue in Valhalla, then left without paying. Police say the individual attempted to pay with an unauthorized debit card and fled the scene after the card was rejected. The incident is still under investigation. 

Graffiti Hits: Twice in the past week, police say, a house on Arthur Avenue in Thornwood was hit with graffiti. Mount Pleasant police say the first incident occurred during the overnight hours of May 9, when the resident reported at about 9 a.m. that the white PVC fence outside their home was spray-painted with graffiti. On May 14, police say the resident reported at about 8 a.m. that the same fence was once again sprayed with graffiti during the overnight hours. Police say the messages left on the fence were not specific.
