Residents are advised to be aware of the following road closure from Wednesday, Nov. 9, to Friday, Nov. 18.

Holbrook Road between its intersection with Scarborough Road and Holbrook Lane, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. It will reopen during the intervening weekend.

The construction calls for the entire replacement of the original sanitation sewer line and siphon chamber, as well as associated interconnections.

Village officials anticipate that the rebuilding of this ancient sewer line -- it's 100 years old -- may provide the village with additional surprises that will have to be immediately addressed.

The village in the process of securing adequate signage to indicate alternative routes while this section of Holbrook Road is closed.

Election Day

Tuesday is Election Day. The Westchester County Board of Elections runs this election. The village of Briarcliff Manor does not have any role in this election process. Any questions should be directed to 914-995-5700.

Veterans Day

Friday is Veterans Day, a national holiday. Village Hall, the departments of Public Works, Highway and Recreation, Village Court and the library are all closed. Garbage will be picked up.

Boulders

The village is bringing notice to property owners who over time and more recently have placed sizable rocks and boulders in the village’s right of way.

Conspicuous is the fact that these boulders and rocks (and at times sizable plantings or other decorations) are clearly on village property with the potential of causing safety issues and liability.

The point is that there is the potential for shared liability: weeds and other overgrowth exist untended; leaves and tree debris are now being piled on and over the boulders impeding the fall cleanup.

Residents are asked to take the time to assess their own condition. The village will review these locations to assess potential risk and determine where leaf pickups are to be limited or where there are carve-backs to snowplowing.

In time, separate notices will be sent out.

Department of Public Works

The DPW is now in its fall leaf pickup routine.

Our dual work crew procedures are in full force. Each crew is working toward the center of the village. Crews are about one-third of the way through the loop of the three loops the department does in the entire village.

Each loop is at least two weeks.
