Sept. 12 Fundraiser To Raise Money For Vets To Visit Washington, D.C.

MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. -- A fundraiser to support “Honor Flight,” a program that sends World War II veterans to Washington, D.C. for a day to visit the memorials free of charge, will be held from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12 at the Hankin Academic Arts Theater located on the Westchester Community College Campus, 75 Grasslands Road in Valhalla.

Hudson Valley Honor Flight, a national not-for-profit organization, is partnering with the Westchester County Veterans Service Agency to make the trip possible – the first out of Westchester County Airport –on Oct. 18.

“The amount of support that has been demonstrated in response to this initiative is truly heartwarming,” said County Executive Robert P. Astorino. “It goes to show how much Westchester residents appreciate our veterans and I’m delighted that the county is working with Hudson Valley Honor Flight to make this trip possible.”

The “Nostalgic Night of Entertainment” fundraiser will include great music from various generations - ranging from the 40s to the 80s. 

Tickets are $20 per person and are available by contacting the Westchester County Veterans Services Office, located on 112 E. Post Road in White Plains, at (914) 995-2145 or Art Kersting at (917) 882-2290. All proceeds will go directly to Hudson Valley Honor Flight.
