The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert this week to Westchester residents regarding the residency of 34-year-old Byron Summers, who has moved from Valhalla to a residence on Walnut Place in Thornwood.

The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Summers as a level two threat, which means he is at "moderate risk of a repeat offense." He has also been designated as a sexually violent offender.

The State Police Computer Crimes Unit investigated the online activities of Summers, and found he allegedly subjected a minor to sexual contact on multiple occasions, authorities said.

According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Summers was convicted of first-degree sexual abuse for having sexual contact with a minor less than 11 years old. He was sentenced in March 2015 to a term of 10 years probation, time served in a local jail and was fined $1,425. He is now under the jurisdiction of the Westchester County Department of Public Safety.
