THORNWOOD, N.Y. – A 23-year-old Thornwood man died Sunday evening after experiencing difficulty while swimming in Lake George, according to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.

Police say Peter Myung was spending the weekend with friends at the Hearthstone Point Campground and rented a pontoon boat. According to police, Myung experienced difficulty while swimming from the boat to a nearby shoreline around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon and yelled for help. Myung was brought back on to the boat by his friends and was administered CPR. Myung was then transferred to the Glen Falls Hospital by local EMS where he was pronounced dead at 5:44 p.m.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office has called the death a drowning. An autopsy is being conducted Monday and an official cause of death has not yet been determined.

According to Myung’s Facebook page, he is a 2006 graduate of Westlake High School and a 2010 graduate of Syracuse University and also lists the Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla as a former employer.
