There's a 9:30 a.m. parade in Valhalla and another one across town in Thornwood at 10:30 a.m. Both parades conclude with ceremonies and refreshments sponsored by American Legion posts.

Valhalla's parade begins at Westlake Drive behind the Valhalla Methodist Church and proceeds south on Columbus Avenue. Its ceremony begins at 10 a.m. at Village Green. Hot dogs, ice cream and refreshments will be served by American Legion Post 1038 after the parade and ceremony.

Thornwood's parade begins near Berlin Imports at Manhattan Avenue and proceeds to the Monument at the former Thornwood Railroad Station near the Thornwood Chamber of Commerce. An 11 a.m. ceremony sponsored by the Gilbert Rauh American Legion Post 1574 will take place at the monument located at the old railroad station. The ceremony includes a dedication of wreaths, gun salute and the singing of "God Bless America" by a Westlake High student as well as "Taps" played by a Bugle Corps.

Thornwood's parade will then proceed along Franklin Avenue through Thornwood's "four corners" to the American Legion Hall at 52 Garrigan Ave. Hot dogs and refreshments will be served after the parade and ceremony at the Legion Hall. If it rains, the ceremony will take place indoors at the American Legion Hall on Garrigan Avenue.
