Thornwood's Murphy Receives McHale Philanthropy Award

MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. – Thornwood resident John J. Murphy, business manager for plumbers local union No. 1, received the Honorable Francis J.P. McHale Memorial Award for his commitment to philanthropy at the 34th Annual Business & Labor Awards Dinner held Jan. 29 at New York City’s Waldorf-Astoria.

A record-breaking $1.25 million was raised at the dinner for Friends of St. Dominic’s, which was attended by over 1,100 business and labor union leaders and executives in the construction, development and real estate industry.

Also honored was John A. Thomann, vice president and general manager of Turner Interiors, with the prestigious Victory Award for his commitment to charitable giving and longtime support of the Friends of Saint Dominic’s.
