VALHALLA, N.Y. -- Thousands of Westchester residents braved muggy weather Wednesday evening for the county's annual Fourth of July fireworks show at Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla.
The popular attraction shut down neighboring streets and highways in Valhalla as pedestrians meandered to and from the county park, where pre-show bands performed.
Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino thanked residents for coming out, saying they were in for a fabulous show.
"We're so fortunate to live in this beautiful land of ours," he said, adding "Never take it for granted."
The event was presented by Westchester County Parks and sponsored by First Niagara Foundation and Westchester Magazine.
