Walkabout Education Foundation Hosts Festival At Yorktown's FDR Park

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Walkabout Education Foundation (WEF) will be hosting the second annual Runabout Festival, a 5K race, 2K walk and fund-raiser event to help save an educational program for high school seniors at FDR State Park on Saturday, June 14, beginning at 11 a.m. in lot 4.

Following the race, the Walkabout Education Foundation has organized several events to celebrate the afternoon with alumni, family and supporters. The events will include an awards ceremony, live music, games and activities for kids, an auction, raffles, food vendors and a beer garden. The Walkabout Education Foundation will also provide an update on its progress over the past year and plans for the future.

Here is the agenda for the day:

9 a.m. – Race registration begins, food vendors open

10 a.m. – 5K race starts

10:15 a.m. – 2K walk starts

11 a.m. – Beer garden opens with $5 beers from Peekskill Brewery, live music begins

2 p.m. – WEF update, raffle and live auction

4 p.m. – Event ends

To attend the event, there is $25 early registration plus processing fee for runner /walker registration. Early registration closes Saturday, June 7. To register log onto www.active.com/yorktown-heights-ny/running/runabout-5k-festival-2014.

To register at the event, registration will be $30. FDR parking fee of $8 will come with $8 of event tickets.
