Weekend Fun in Mount Pleasant Area

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – This weekend could have some isolated thunderstorms in Pleasantville, so get outside and take advantage of the sun and clear skies while you can. There are plenty of events and activities to attend in the Pleasantville area, both indoors and out.

On Saturday, start your day off by heading over to the Pleasantville Farmers Market in the Memorial Plaza Parking lot. There are only a few more weeks of summer, which means there's limited time for great barbecuing weather. Be sure to stock up on items for your friends and families to enjoy on the grill.

This Saturday and Sunday at the Stone Barns Center in Pocantico Hills is the Summer on the Farm Weekend. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. the center will host various activities and events related to the farm including scavenger hunts, farm chores, tours, food tastings and many others. Bring the family and experience life on the farm. For a full schedule, visit the Stone Barns Center's website.

At the Kensico Dam Plaza on Sunday, experience the culture and lifestyle of a distant country at the Heritage of India Festival. The celebration of Indian Heritage includes food, live music, folk dancing, amusement rides and a native clothing fashion show. The festival will run from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m. and is open to the public.

The Pleasantville Village Pool is always a great place to cool off during a hot summer day. Head there on Saturday any time from 10 a.m. till 8 p.m. to enjoy a relaxing day in the sun.

Don't let the rain spoil your weekend and keep you in the house. Head over to the Jacob Burns Film Center to catch a movie. Check out "Page One," a documentary chronicling a year of survival at The New York Times, or bring the kids to see "The Black Swan" as part of the Movies For Kids program, where kids' tickets are only $1.
